The article shows how the Second World War is reflected in the Chinese unified history textbook for secondary schools. It is concluded that in Russian schools more attention is paid to the consideration of events in foreign history using the example of the topic dedicated to the Second World War.

The article is devoted to the study of the potential of literary texts about the Great Patriotic War in the formation of the value and emotional components of students’ civil identity. The authors focus on the ability of a literary text to create a space of dialogue in the classroom, where students can analyze ethical issues, as well as emotionally empathize with the events of the past. It emphasizes the need for careful selection of text fragments and the development of a system of questions that stimulate reflection and discussion. The article presents examples of tasks developed for 10th grade lessons on the history of the Great Patriotic War.

The study of regional culture during the Great Patriotic War as a tool for implementing the main directions of educational work with schoolchildren (based on the materials of the Krasnoyarsk territory). Based on the materials of one of the largest Russian regions, the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the article reveals the educational potential of studying the regional culture of the Great Patriotic War period. The article provides concrete historical material for the implementation of the tasks of patriotic, spiritual, moral, labor education, and the formation of the civic and cultural identity of schoolchildren.

S.D. Batishchev. Thomas Mann’s radio addresses (1940-1945) to the german nation: using the source in high school history classes.
The article proposes to use T. Mann’s radio messages recently published for the first time in Russian as a source for the formation of reading literacy skills in history lessons in high school. There are several examples of possible tasks for these sources.

I.N. Strekalov. «Russia is now a constitutional state»: Mikhail Ushakov and the unknown page of Russia’s workers’ democracy (1905-1907).
The article deals with the social and political activity of Mikhail Ushakov, a worker who served in the Expedition for the preparation of Russian state papers in St. Petersburg. The author studies archival documents and shows Ushakov’s outlook and views on the solution of the labour question, his role in the events of the First Russian Revolution of 1905-1907, his desire to interact with the authorities. The conclusion is that Ushakov’s activities have not previously been studied by historical science because of the worker’s accusation of co-operation with the police, which had no basis in fact. Consideration of the «Ushakovshchina» allows us to talk about the legal form of existence of workers’ democracy in late imperial Russia.

The article is devoted to one of the most important episodes of the national history of extreme everyday life — the life of Omsk students during the Great Patriotic War. The authors paid special attention to the activities of the youth of two Omsk universities (Omsk State Medical Institute and SibADI), their contribution to the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

E.S. Sobkova, S.E. Lazarev. The causes and prerequisites of the Chechen armed conflict: the emergence and maturation of radical Islamic movements in the Caucasus in the mid-80s — early 90s of the XX century.
The authors conducted a study of the origins of the Chechen armed conflict and the maturation of radical Islamic movements in the Caucasus in the mid-1980s and early 1990s. The article provides a chronology of events and the reasons that initiated one of the bloodiest clashes in the post-Soviet space. It is concluded that the prerequisites for the war were laid long ago and reached an acute phase in the autumn of 1994. As such, one can single out: the formation of ethnic nationalism among Chechens based on a sense of infringement of national rights, which led to a desire to gain autonomy. And the violation of the norms and principles of national and personnel policy, ignoring demographic and social problems in the republic, the deterioration of the economic situation of the population, and the historical factor made this conflict inevitable.

The article discusses the results of a study addressing various aspects of students’ cognitive interest in History. Special emphasis is put on the nature of the cognitive interest of schoolchildren in History.

The article examines the significance of the practice-oriented approach in modern social science education. The authors analyze key challenges in teaching, particularly the predominance of theoretical knowledge over practical skills, and propose ways to integrate practice-oriented methods into social studies instruction. Special attention is given to techniques that enable students not only to grasp theoretical concepts but also to apply them in solving real-world social, economic, and legal problems. Drawing on pedagogical experience and contemporary educational trends, the article justifies the need to combine theory and practice, as this fosters the development of skills and competencies essential for academic success and everyday life. Several examples of practice-oriented tasks are examined as tools for achieving subject-specific learning outcomes.
