A.V. Frolova. Attitude to the birth of a disabled child in a peasant environment (based on the materials of the Russian North).
The article deals with religious, moral and social ideas and superstitions of the North Russian population about the birth of a disabled child, as well as a large complex of ritual and magical actions, social norms that existed in a peasant family. In the Orthodox Russian tradition, the primary fault for the health of the child lay with the mother. In perception of the people is the mother endowed with the ability to heal and give well-being to their children.
