The content of the article reveals the features of the organization and pedagogical potential, as well as the integration of the pedagogical technology of quests into the classroom and extracurricular activities on history when mastering the content of the course «History of Russia» in basic and secondary schools. The article analyzes and summarizes domestic studies on the methodology of teaching history on the issue of organizing quests at school, analyzes examples of organizing quests, and provides brief methodological comments for the history teacher and methodologist.

M.A. Вychkov. Establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and China in the 17th century.
The article examines the formation of Russian-Chinese diplomatic relations. Russia’s natural desire to develop Siberian territories has led to a clash with Chinese interests in the Amur region. If Russia was open to the development of diplomatic and trade relations, then Qing China, which considered all its neighbors to be barbarians, opposed equal relations. The persistence and endurance of the Russian embassies, as well as changes in the military and political situation, forced the Qing government to conclude an agreement. Despite all the imperfections of the text of the Nerchinsk Treaty and the complexity of the conditions of its conclusion, it laid the foundations for the further development of Russian-Chinese relations.

The article examines the content of the method of phenomenologizing history in history lessons, understanding history as a phenomenon using the example of the artistic work of the founder of Russian symbolism D.S. Merezhkovsky, highlighting the main features and the main bond (myth), which at the current stage of development of society — the period of formation of national self-identity — are becoming the most relevant and in demand.

G.V. Uvarov. All-Union Conference of People’s Controllers and its significance.
The article examines the All-Union Conference of People’s Controllers, which took place on October 5, 1984. The author analyzes the positions of various parties voiced at the Conference — both representatives of the communist party and state authorities, and workers (activists of people’s control). A significant place in the article is devoted to the study of proposals made by the participants, as well as the resolution of the People’s Control Committee of the USSR, adopted in light of the Conference.
