Article is dedicated to Red Army development at the eve of Great Patriotic War, especially huge building projects of fortified regions and aerodromes. Causes of Red Army defeats describes as result of ill-fated political decisions. Due to them movement of internal military districts units to state border had been denied. Also, economic and technical factors have been analyzed as a part of decision-making process.

V.S. Milbach. Repressions of the commanding staff of the Red Army and the Navy on the eve of the Great Patriotic War and an assessment of their impact on the course of hostilities.
In the 1950s and 1980s, the reasons for the failures of the Red Army at the beginning of the Great Patriotic War were usually associated with the suddenness of the attack of Nazi Germany and its satellites and their superiority in forces and means, but a number of historical studies conducted in the post-Soviet period allow us to look at this problem more objectively. The article reflects some results of research about the effects of mass political repressions of 1937-1938 among command personnel, especially higher education that affect the state of combat readiness of troops (forces) the red army and Navy on the eve of the enemy invasion.

S.E. Lazarev. The contribution of the Kirov historian A.A. Pechenkin in the study of the Soviet military elite.
The article highlights the creative heritage of the Kirov historian A.A. Pechenkina (1954-2020). His most significant works are mentioned, his contribution to the study of the Soviet military elite on the eve and during the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945) and the related topic of repression against the military (1937-1938) is revealed.

The article tells about the concept of the world-historical development of Eurasia by the famous orientalist academician N. I. Konrad. In his opinion, the history of the Eurasian peoples, in addition to the inevitable specifics, has many similar characteristics. An example of this is the phenomenon of «Renaissance», which is dedicated to the special concept of the scientist about the Eastern or World Renaissance.

A.Y. Mudritsky. The efforts of the Soviet security agencies to neutralize the nationalist underground in the Belarusian SSR after its liberation from German occupiers.
The studied topic has an actual historical and significance. The author of the publication proved that after the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi occupiers, the opposition of the Soviet security agencies to Hitler’s special services and the armed nationalist underground movement in this region became important for stabilizing socio-political situation in the Belarusian SSR.

The article considers the game form of lessons as an effective way of repeating, generalizing historical material on the topic. Game techniques allow you to increase the cognitive interest of students in the subject, organize various types of work with the class, apply multi-level creative tasks. Despite the theoretical development of the topic of using games for students of different age categories, there is currently a shortage of practical developments. The presented material is of applied importance, the tasks are focused on working with the content of both domestic and foreign history.

J.V. Druzhinina, E.F. Bekhtenova. Soviet palekh as a means of motivating pupils to sdudy history (on the example of the topic «Flight of the first man into space»).
The authors of the article propose to use painting in the style of Palekh in history lessons as a means of motivating schoolchildren to study history. Variants of questions and assignments for various stages of the lesson are proposed, where you can use palekh when studying the topic «Human space exploration». The use of a visual source — palekh for the study of a historical personality — Yu. A. Gagarin is considered. A conclusion is made about the importance of organizing the cognitive activity of schoolchildren with materials from Palekh painting, dedicated to the USSR’s exploration of space and the first manned flight into space, aimed at increasing the motivation of schoolchildren to study history.

N.S. Donskaya. The place of the scientic and methodological school of P.V. Gora in the national methodology of teaching history of the second half of the XX century.
The article provides grounds that allow us to assert that the ideas of P.V. Gora are relevant for modern history education, since they are fundamental. The scientific and methodological school of P. V Gora made a significant contribution to the development of methods of teaching history. The central idea of ??the study is to confirm the status of the scientific and methodological school of P.V. Gora, which today continues to train scientific and pedagogical personnel in Russia and has brought up more than one generation of scientists.

In this article, based on an analysis of the sources first presented in the scientific revolving archives, the author recreates the history of the emergence and functioning of M.V. Podarevskaya gymnasium, taking into account the reasons and circumstances of the participation of this educational institution, teacher, funding and educational process in the social and political life of the provincial city of the post-reform era.
