Actual theme: Artificial intelligence in the work of a history and social science teacher

The authors consider current problems of using artificial intelligence and neural networks in all spheres of life, including education. The article analyzes some neural networks and their capabilities in the educational process. The article provides methodological recommendations for the use of artificial intelligence in studying the topics of the Social Studies course. The presented materials can be used both in class and in extracurricular activities.

M.S. Ruzhnikov. Artificial intelligence technologies for history teacher: lesson planning.
Artificial intelligence is increasingly being explored in the modern scientific space, and as a result, debates arise about the prospects and ethics of its application in various fields. The article aims to determine the contribution of generative artificial intelligence based tools to history lesson planning. The results show that generative language models can provide history teachers with specific materials and mechanisms to support the educational process, such as lesson plans. However, to fully realize their potential in the field of education, it is essential to approach these models with caution and critically evaluate their limitations and potential, understanding that they are teaching support tools and do not replace teachers.

A.F. Kiselev, A.V. Lubkov. Non-imperial empire.
Posing the problem of comprehending the historical past of Russia as a non-imperial empire entails the understanding of national and cultural identity of a person and society, especially in the conditions of confrontation of different models of civilizational development. The article presents the author’s reading of the issues of value-sense specificity of Russian civilization in relation to the issues of imperial discourse.

N.S. Vatnik, L.N. Sosa. Peasants in the post-reform Kolomna: social adaptation of «new citizens»
The article using Kolomna near Moscow as an example examines the ways of adaptation of migrant peasants to the social life of a post-reform city. It is shown that, developing profitable economic niches, the «new townspeople» sought not only material well-being, but also to gain public recognition. Wealthy peasants participated in elections to local governments, ran for jury of the District Court and were engaged in charity work. Peasant families sought to educate children in primary schools or gymnasiums, which led to a high increase in the contingent of peasant students in comparison with other classes.

The article reviews the reasons for the restoration of the Patriarchate in the Russian Orthodox Church during the Great Patriotic War. The purposes that the Soviet government was planning to pursue by the restoration of the Patriarchate are being examined.

Wang Junqi, A.M. Kulikov. The evolution of the views of Chinese contemporaries on the Meiji restoration in Japan in 1868.
Japan, located in East Asia, was originally a backward and closed agricultural country, similar to China in the first half of the 19th century. Against the backdrop of the global expansion of Western powers, Japan also faced challenges. On the other hand, Japan also had major problems with the distribution of power between the central and local governments. In response to risks at home and abroad, the young Japanese Emperor Meiji launched an era of political reform aimed at the Restoration of the country and became a major event in the history of Japan. It completely changed the Japanese nation and determined the direction of Japanese history, thereby gradually transforming Japan into a modern country. The results of the Meiji Restoration also had a profound impact on the modernization process of other East Asian countries, especially China, in both positive and negative ways. This article will describe step by step the changes in the views of contemporaries of the Qing dynasty in China on the Meiji Restoration, and also analyze the reasons for these changes.

Examining the state and party activities of E.A. Furtseva in 1928-1974, it should be noted that in modern Russian historiography, the activities of E.A. Furtseva belong to little-studied topics, which represented a purposeful work on the leadership of Moscow, later as Minister of Culture of the USSR, her work to strengthen peace and raise the international prestige of the Soviet Union.

Methodic

M.L. Nesmelova. Approaches to designing technology for the formation of all-Russian civic identity through historical education.
The article touches on the problem of designing a technology for forming the all-Russian civic identity of students through historical education. The material is based on regulatory documents and scientific research in determining the key characteristics of this concept, its components that are significant for the design of effective methods of civic-patriotic education, and also formulates the key approaches and elements of the proposed technology.

O.Y. Strelova, Zh. B. Kiryanova. Formation and diagnostics of financial literacy up to date with regional history.
In continuation of the «methodological consultation» on the formation of functional literacy in school history courses, the authors of the article offer a thematic case for the development of financial literacy. It, like the previous ones, are based on the basis of a textbook on the history of the Russian Far East, using general principles for constructing cases in all areas of functional literacy. The comments reveal the secrets of each task and the cognitive abilities of schoolchildren diagnosed in each specific case. The experience of creating functional literacy’ cases with historical content, based on the analysis of sources such as cultural texts, confirms the value of functional literacy as a meta-subject and personal result of common education.

O.V. Nefedova. Text information in history lessons: techniques and methods of work in the system of secondary vocational educational organizations.
The article proposes some methods and techniques for developing students’ skills to work with text information. These approaches have shown their effectiveness in the learning process in history lessons.
