Actual theme: School historical local history

E.D. Gordina. Forms of local history work in schools in Gorky in 1946. (based on archival materials of the Nizhny Novgorod region).
The presented article, based on archival materials, examines the process of introducing local history into the educational process in schools in the city of Gorky in the first post-war year. Of particular interest in this case is, first of all, the variety of forms of local history work in Gorky schools in 1946. The picture of the Gorky region is in this case typical for the country as a whole.

I.A. Novikov, P.E. Furen. Anatoly Ivanovich Alexandrov: contribution to the development of a school course on the history of his native land in the 1960–1970s.
The article considers the contribution to the formation and development of school history of local lore in Russia by A.I. Alexandrov: the first builder of the Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant, a participant in the Great Patriotic War, a history teacher at school № 10 in Chelyabinsk, the head of the local lore circle, the historical and local lore section of the scientific society of students, the author of numerous publications on historical lore, textbooks on history native land. He was published many times in the pages of the magazine «Teaching History at School» in the 1950s-1980s, and his experience was used by teachers throughout the Soviet Union. Methodological heritage of A.I. Aleksandrov’s work on organizing students’ historical and local history activities remains relevant in our time.

A.V. Sementsova. Methodological materials for the extracurricular activity course «Stories about the town (on the example of the town of Kainsk/Kuibyshev)».
The author of the article suggests an option for organizing an extracurricular activity course in a small town aimed at developing local patriotism. The course has educational and historical-educational goals, is focused on the preservation of historical memory, the formation of students’ personal position in relation to their small homeland. The developed methodological materials and comments on the course content can be used by teachers of small towns to create their own extracurricular activities course based on the resources of their own city. The article concludes that the developed course will help to change the attitude of students towards their city in a positive way and will contribute to their inclusion in the urban community.

History and Society

Yu.V. Druzhinina. «I remember the smell of «Red Moscow» perfume from my childhood — it smells nice»: the olfactory code of the soviet past in the study of history at school.
The article deals with the educational and value resource of studying history at school through the reference to the smells of famous perfumes (colognes) of the Soviet period. The variants of organizing cognitive activity of schoolchildren with perfume materials when studying the history of the Soviet state at school are presented. The tasks requiring familiarization of pupils with the history of individual perfume compositions in the history of the state, in personal histories, with information about the influence of perfume on the culture of Soviet society are proposed. It is concluded that it is promising to use perfumery in the study of history at school, which can contribute not only to the development of historical subject skills, but also increase interest, formation of value attitude, enrichment of knowledge of modern schoolchildren about the history of the Soviet state and their family.

N.N. Latushko. Executive committee of the Comintern during the «great terror».
The article is dedicated the changes affecting the composition of the Executive Committee of the Communist International during the period of the «great terror». The prerequisites that influenced the unfolding of political repression in the ECCI are identified. A comparative analysis of the changes in the composition of the ECCI in 1935 and 1939 is carried out. It is revealed that the political repressions of the Executive Committee members directly affected the activities of the Comintern apparatus. It is noted that the influence of the «Great Terror» has led to the weakening of certain national sections.

H.I. Dupate, V.S. Antonova. Activity of E.A. Furtseva as Minister of Culture of the USSR in 1960-1974.
Analyzing the activities of E.A. Furtseva as Minister of Culture, it should be noted that in the USSR in 1960-1974 huge successes were achieved in Soviet culture and art, which determined the triumph of a progressive lifestyle and morality in our country at that time. Numerous works have been created in literature, cinema, theater, music and visual arts. During the years of E.A. Furtseva’s tenure as Minister of Culture, they were marked in Soviet history by an unprecedented rise and flourishing of national culture. It was during this period that the competitive artistic «products» of the USSR appeared on the world exchange of cultural values, taking into account the ever-increasing and strengthening cooperation of our state with foreign countries.

Methodic

O.Y. Strelova. Formation and diagnostics of mathematical literacy up to date with regional history.
In continuation of the «methodological consultation» on the formation of functional literacy in school history courses, the author of the article offers a thematic case for the development of mathematical literacy. It was developed on the basis of a textbook on the history of the Russian Far East, the principles of constructing functional reading’cases. The comments demonstrate how the cognitive abilities of schoolchildren are diagnosed in each specific case. The experience of creating MR-cases with historical content, sources of information and cultural texts, in integration with literacy reading confirms the value of functional literacy as meta-subject and personal results of common education.

O.Yu. Uzhan. Project method in organizing the educational process.
The article examines the role of project activities in organizing the educational process. Based on an analysis of psychological and pedagogical literature, the author explains how project activities, having a wide scope of application at all levels of modern domestic education, allow students to develop the ability of productive imagination, creative transformation of reality and effectively implement the skills of social activity.

Young scientists’ works

S.A. Karkashova. The League of Nations as an instrument to prevent German rearmament: the position of France (1927-1933).
The article examines the position of France regarding the role of the League of Nations in preventing German rearmament from the moment of the transfer of control over German arms to the organization until the withdrawal of the Third Reich from the League. Article shows the reasons for the ineffectiveness of the League of Nations’ control and considers France’s proposals aimed at reforming the organization at the Geneva Conference on Disarmament.

K.K. Letova. On the issue of the chronology of the women’s movement in Russian historiography.
The article studies the chronological stages of the evolution of the women’s movement in Russia in the second half of the 19th — the early 20th centuries. The author’s viewpoint is based on the fundamental events of the socio-political history of Russia and the place and the role of the women’s movement in it.

I.A. Altman, S.A. Tikhankina. War. Football. Holocaust.
In the published book «Football. War. Holocaust: documents, testimonies, photographs» the reader will get acquainted with little-known pages of football matches in the occupied territory of the USSR and the myths around the so-called «death match» in Kyiv, talks about matches in besieged Leningrad, in the just liberated Stalingrad, games of Soviet teams in Iran and archival documents on the «Starostin brothers case». Its final part reflects the modern experience of combating anti-Semitism and racism in football.
